Professional Gamblers play more online poker than blackjack
Posted by Guest Blogger on Mar 16, 2009 in Blog, Gambling | 0 commentsBeing a professional gambler for the past 5 years, I have played both blackjack and online poker to make a living. Both card games require mathematical knowledge and strict discipline in order to make money in the long run. Although both blackjack and online poker are beatable, many professional gamblers are playing online poker nowadays without even leaving home and without worrying about having problems when they win!
I didn’t last more than one year playing blackjack professionally in my local city’s casino before they forbid the entrance to me. My friends said that it wasn’t the money I had won, rather that I was too young to have such a success. They were afraid of what I would be capable of in a matter of years, if I was already making good money during my first year playing blackjack. By that time I had to make a decision if I was to continue pursuing such a profession. Professional blackjack required a bankroll and a lot of trips. Because I don’t like travelling, I decided to look elsewhere to carry on with my professional gambling. So, after 3 years of sports trading, I ended up playing poker online.
A professional gambler can increase his hourly win rate by switching from blackjack to online poker. He can start by playing in low stakes and gradually move up into high stakes games, he is able to play in 8 or more tables at the same time and best of all he can cash out his winnings instantly. And the best part is that he can do all that from his armchair! Granted he has to study about the game before he can beat the opposition, but the same applies in blackjack as well. The main difference is that in blackjack you try to beat the dealer, while in online poker you just have to find worse poker players than you and avoid the better ones in order to make money as a professional poker player.
If I was to begin all over again as a professional gambler, I’d choose online poker to build up my bankroll quickly and still have the opportunity to make big money if I’d manage to reach the high stakes games or win an expensive poker tournament.
