I finish editing a video on Davinci Resolve with captions and subtitles.

As a non-native English speaker, I need my target audience to understand what I’m saying in the video. Thus, I need both captions and subtitles.

I’m uploading to YouTube, which prompts me to add subtitles.

Great! I‘ve done the work. I’ll export subtitles from Resolve in an SRT file and import that into my YouTube video.

Wait, why do the subtitles appear on YouTube at the wrong time?

It turns out that’s a common problem for video creators who use Davinci Resolve to edit and add subtitles to their YouTube videos.

At first, I thought I had to edit the exported SRT file and change timestamps manually for every subtitle.
